Perhaps. Against this, some say Citizen Kane counts as the first noir (also 1941). I'll go along with that as far as much of its mood and dark canvas (photography by the amazing Greg Toland) plus the "Rosebud" mystery backdrop. Still, I've always felt Kane is a film unto itself, its own genre. The Last Seduction > is another great > contemporary noir flick.
