No. As the camera goes to sleep all by itself, the user need not
neccessarily be consciously aware of this. Therefore, requiring a press on
a specific button, a conscious action, is asking for operator errors.
Having the camera wake up on any button press is, in this regard, a much
better design.

To answer the question: Power off time is 1 minute or longer, power on is
with the power switch, a half-press on the shutter or a press on the play
or info buttons... As power-off time is much longer than with the Canon,
it seems less of a problem to me.
