Don't get me wrong, I agree. I LOVE Kodachrome. And, although Kodak has heard from the masses by now how they'd like Kodak to produce it forever, it's just a loss leader for them (hence the albatross comment). The numbers just aren't in it for Kodak and haven't been for years. Whether or not that's changed, I don't know.
It is, without question, a remarkable film. Asthetics aside, has any other color film shown such incredible logevity? I personally have seen and own some Kodachrome from the 1930's, 40's and 50's on old regular 8mm films that looks (literaly) like it was shot yesterday. Some have faded badly, but if you take care in storing it, it seems to never fade. I recently came across some war footage shot by a Navy doctor aboard a hospital ship at the time of the Inchon invasion during the Korean War. Some of it looks amazing considering it's 56 years old. And this stuff was found sitting in the sun at a swap meet. -Brendan --- "P. J. Alling" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Not an albatross, a legacy.
