In camera meters, AE and AF are all nice luxuries, very nice, but 
luxuries indeed. I still shoot MF Velvia using the Sunny 16 rule on 
occasion (I love my TLR, but use it once a month or so). None are 
needed. Digital is merely a different capture medium, not a feature. 
SR/IS/VR is a fairly big deal since it appreciably affects the ability 
to capture photographs in many situations (AE and AF do that in fast 
moving situations, but SR can help in any situation that you don't have 
a tripod for).
