Amita,
Without getting at all specific, something I rarely do, a couple months
back I was reading dpreview Canon chat. Big hairy Canon whine for not
carrying a lens line equivalent to Pentax. All manner of examples were
offered, including the LTD primes.
They were critical of both the choices and relative quality of
available Canon lenses.
I understand your frustration at not finding certain third party lenses
for Pentax, but Canon users have their own grips.

Yes. With Canon you have a basically a three tier system: low level cheap
and not so good, mid-level definitely not cheap and usually pretty good
(usually
L glass), and high level expensive and very good (f 2.8 and often IS).

I am now committed to Canon, I have too much glass to switch at this time,
but Pentax often offers very good lenses at cheaper prices. In other words, it
isn't a three tier system so you have more options. Bear that in mind.

Marnie aka Doe Note: I truthfully have no complaints about my current
system and glass though. Each brand has its advantages/disadvantages.
