Hi Kostas,
Take this with a grain of salt, as I never shot in a football stadium. I
did shoot indoor sport venues (gymnastics and volleyball) and light is bad
there: I think for tele shots (shutter speeds of 1/250 or 1/180) I usually
open up to f/3.5 with ISO 1600 film. I can't imagine a football stadium
being much better... I'd recommend using 1600 or even 3200 ISO film. At
least take a roll with you, just in case...
As labs are digital these days, they should be able to adress the white
balance, but I'm trying hard to remember an actual example to prove they
can. I'll have a look at home tonight to see if I can find something. To
circumvent the problem, you could of course shoot black and white.
If you can't find fast film on short notice you can take Kodak BW 400 CN.
It's a C41 process monochrome film that can be exposed as 1600 ISO. At
least here it's widely available.
