Yep, it is a bit soft in the focus department.

Excuse (long winded)...

1) I was using my Coolpix "snapshot" camera, I find harder to 
focus properly, particularly in challenging light conditions, 
than my *istDL.

2) I haven't used that camera for ages and I have forgotten how 
to set it up properly.

3) The sunrise caught me by suprise and I only had a couple of 
minutes to get a shot. That sounds weird BUT here the most 
dramatic scenes are almost always just prior to sunrise. This was 
15-20 minutes later when the colours have usually faded. I 
actually watched the sunrise, had turned and was walking away 
when I happened to glance over my shoulder and see what was going 
on. I hurriedly got a few shots before the sun went up and 
disappeared behind the clouds. It was the unusual conjunction of 
sun position, clouds and smoke haze that made the shot.

That's my excuse: better a slightly soft photo than none.
