Thanks. That's already set that way. The machine doesn't lose connectivity to the router, or, indeed to the internet. The mail client continues to check the mail server and download mail every five minutes, as set. My laptop, with the same OS and browser, continues to function perfectly. It's just that, somehow, the request for a page from the desktop browser is refused. I think it can only be malware.
