Exactly. The zone system forces one to consider what is important in a 
shot. In one instance you might have a zone 10 highlight, but do you 
want to record it? Is there a zone 2 shadow detail that is more 
important? Once you know the range of your medium, you can make 
intelligent choices in these kids of situations. Exposure is much more 
than a reading from a multi-point meter. It's an intelligent decision 
that the photographer must be prepared to make.
