Thanks Paul. I did the scanning and rendering several years ago, I
know I can improve on the rendering now. It looks a little harsher
than it ought to. :-)

As to the taking of it ...

I was wandering in the streets of Pride with the Hassy on a tripod
and these kids were being kids ... curious and badgering me with
questions as I walked past. I enjoyed bantering with them: they
seemed like kids used to be when I was that age, like human beings
without that fearful, suspicious, haunted look that I've come to
accept as the sad norm here at home.

So I was set up to photograph an interesting gate next to the wall
they were sitting on when they started to ask me to take their
picture. Right about then, one of their parents stepped to the edge
of the knoll above and called down to ask what was doing...

"Just taking some photographs of the neighborhood. Is it a bother?"
"No no, I suppose not. Are the brats annoying you?"
"Not at all. They asked me to take their picture. Is that all right?"
pause. "Whatcha going to do with the pictures?"
"I don't know. Probably put them in my portfolio or on my web page if
they come out the way I want. If you want, I'll send prints for your
approval first."
pause. "Oh, that's all right. Can't imagine that these kids are worth
taking a picture of. Just don't let them bother you too much."

That was it, she turned around, walked off, and never looked back.
The kids hammed it up for a few frames, lost interest, and went on
about their own affairs.
