I see the PUG as a totally different outlet than the PESO. PUG is very strict on timing and content (once a month, one image, specific theme) and PESO is more reflective of our shooting. If I go on a trip somewhere, I am going to shoot what there is in the area, not a PUG theme, and it is entirely possible to get more than one good image in a month that I would like to share. What if it is a mini gallery or something? That can't be handled by the PUG. So PESO/GESO becomes a much more timely, meaningful method of sharing.
Another issue that no one has brought up, is that even in it's heyday, PUG comments were a problem. The gallery was too big to comment on in a meaningful way. Many photos got no comments, many comments were trite and a few people had to spend hours trying to comment on everything. The real nicety to a PESO is that it is just one photo, that many can take a moment to look at and maybe comment. I'm not advocating getting rid of PUG, but it is not the perfect vehicle to service all of our photographic outlets. -- Bruce Friday, June 23, 2006, 3:32:22 PM, you wrote: BS> Tom, BS> Having high quality photos in the PUG is a good idea.
