It was taken on an overcast day, the paint on the car and the buildings are faded. I could have adjusted numerous elements to make a nice, bright photo, but on my monitor it looks like the scene looked, a little worn, tired, dreary, but not at all lacking in contrast. I can even see details of the undercarriage, the grass beneath the car, some details in the tire treads, and inside the vehicle all the way through the rear window to the building in the back. IOW, it looks just fine here ...
