Where's the $50 one at? The gig is not a sure thing, but the ability to do remote release will definitely assist my pitch. So basically, I'm cheaping out for at least the short term and will likely buy something better if I secure the job.
I got offered a Pentax IR remote at a price comparable to third-party wired remotes on eBay, and since I don't have a cable release for the DS2 yet I figured I might as well get it. I'm pretty sure it'll be unsuitable for this application, but I might as well try it. -Aaron -----Original Message----- From: graywolf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subj: Re: loooooooong distance remote or IR release Date: Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:18 am Size: 1K To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> Don't know if there is a commercial one that will work with the DS2, but a radio remote control is the best bet for long distances. That is what those sports guys use to trigger the cameras mounted in the overhead. Used to be such things were incredibly expensive, however I have had my eye on a radio flash sync unit selling for under $50 for awhile now, you could not buy the parts to make one yourself for much less (unfortunately, for me $50 is still incredibly expensive--sigh). -- graywolf http://www.graywolfphoto.com http://webpages.charter.net/graywolf "Idiot Proof" <==> "Expert Proof" ----------------------------------- Aaron Reynolds wrote: > A job I'm going after will require some photography where I will be a > considerable distance from the camera. > > Timing is critical, so in my head I'm eliminating the IR remote.
