Based on your criteria, you should seriously look at the FA 28-200mm.  I 
didn't much like it on film, was planning to get rid of it in fact.  The 
only reason I ended up with one in the first place was that I wanted the 
MZ-3 it was attached to.  However on the *ist-D, and the DS for that 
matter it really shines.  Most of the problems I saw on film disappear 
when used on with the APS sized digital sensor.  I'm hoping it preforms 
as well on the new K10D when I have a chance to try one.
