I believe that there was a thread with the wonderful subject line "Lobbing hand-grenades over the transom". Perhaps it was "Throwing", not lobbing. But the thread title has stuck with me for a number of years, at least three -- gotta go look it up.
Anyways, I recall that it was one of the most useless threads in the history of the PDML.
