Filming at a 2000 year old murder mystery today in deepest
Gloucestershire, UK (pronounced 'Glos'tur'shur'). Gravel extraction
workings unearthed tell-tale discolouration of the ground and the
archaeologists were called in. A Roman burial site consisting of about
90 bodies is being excavated, one with a knife sticking in his/her
back!
The wooden handle long-since rotted away, the blade clearly visible
sticking through the back just above the pelvis.
Anyway, archaeologists are a funny lot, grubby and methodical, set in
their ways. One guy climbed a stepladder with a filthy black case and
produced a matching set of K1000s to take pictures! To be fair they did
also use a couple of point and shoot digicams (didn't catch the make)
but the Pentax's were heavily used and covered in dust. I made sure the
cutaway shot of the photographer with the K1000 to his eye was nice and
closeup, I hope they use it in the piece to be broadcast this evening.
You know, I thought you were going to say that a Pentax K1000 had been
recovered from the excavation ;-)
That would have been an LX.
At least one LX has accompanied me at every one of the digs I have done
- even the underwater one! I did keep them dry though, they are tough,
just not that tough ;-)
I know I have a few pictures of my LXen on the ground at a site or two.
