I like that FOV. The first 35mm lens I ever owned was a Nikkor 35/2.8
on a Nikon SP2 rangefinder. When I bought an SLR with a 50, I couldn't
figure out why my pics weren't as good. Eventually I realized that
slightly wide is better than normal. The FOV equivelant of full frame.
42mm is close to my ideal.
