I must say that the one thing I've been pleasantly surprised by has
been noise at high ISO values with 6MP cameras. Certainly what I'm
getting now at ISO 1600 compares favorably to any 1600 ISO film I've
used. Of course, once you get past a certain print size other
deficiencies become evident, but for 90% of what I'm using the DS2 for,
it's actually proving to be much better than 35mm film at 1600 ISO.
I'm still not sold on it at 800 -- the results from scans from NPZ 35mm
are really excellent, and I think some further improvement needs to be
made for Pentax's digital offerings to match that. At the same time,
for fast work it's certainly not bad, and it's probably better than
some of the 800 ISO 35mm films, just not all of them.
