One of the things that I liked about the Pentax DS body was that it
supported interchangeable focusing screens.
I bought a Pentax LL-60 focusing screen as soon as they were
available ... hoping that it would be like my old favorite Nikon "E"
screen: a plain ground matte fresnel field with "rule of thirds" grid
lines. Well, unfortunately, it doesn't quite work out like that ...

The AF focus brackets kinda clutter up the grid.
So I was thinking about the Katz Eye Optics screens with their
optical focus aids. I don't want any split image prism or microprism,
but I found on their website that they offer a selection of grids and
format crop lines ... and it got me to thinking. Could they make a
screen without the focus aids and with just a bit of horizontal/
vertical reference line and an 8x10 proportion reference crop line?
I called and, to my delight, they can. So I've ordered a custom
screen that looks like this:

It wasn't cheap ... about $140 plus shipping ... but I hope it will
be the answer I've been looking for.
Hey, if you gotta splurge on something, at least make it useful. :-)
