Whoa! Yahoo had serious problems on all of their lists last
week. Much worse than anything here. This happens with Yahoo
all the time. If you want trouble-free lists, Yahoo is not the
place to go.
What problems were these? I have had no interruptions in service
at all. I subscribe to 8 Yahoo groups and admin three.
I find that hard to believe. Yahoo was completely offline for more
than a day and no groups were getting any e-mails. This has
happened numerous times. When they got back up again every message
was coming in twice for a couple of days. They're fine for people
who like to read and post on the site, but awful for e-mail lists.
It got so bad a while back that I set up my own hosting for some of
the photo groups that used to be on Yahoo. I think they are aptly
named, since it seems to be run by a bunch of yahoos.
Hmm.
I have one account receiving a list digest, the other gets individual
posts, and archive locally all the traffic. Neither of those accounts
is a Yahoo.com subscriber account. I just went through the records
and found no interruptions in service: my lists received the normal
average numbers of daily posts. No doubling of messages either.
