Oh yes - that happened three years ago.
The reason we picked up the Mini then was that the Range Rover
had lunched it's engine - it managed to overheat, and warp the
block.  The replacement estimates were at a minimum 8-10K, and
may very well have gone higher, and we'd have ended up with a
car that wasn't worth what we'd have to put into it.  So, as we
were already half way to the price of a new Mini, we decided
to go the rest of the way.  At that time there was still a 3-
month waiting list to get a Mini, but we were lucky enough to
find an uncommitted car, coming in on spec to our local dealer,
with the CVT (for Wendy-Ann), and the colour that she wanted,
which we could have in only three weeks.  So we bought it.
