Hi Fred,

I somewhat agree with you, and have myself contributed to some of the
non-photography content of the list, such as my question about water
filters. But, is that so bad. In some instances off-topic messages and
discussions foster and reinforce a sense of community. I've always felt
that the PDML has been more than just a brand-oriented mailing list.
Learning about Cotty's home purchase and renovation, Bill's home
remodeling, aspects of Frank's personal and family life, and things more
closely related to this list and photography, such as memory cards, or
internet service providers, all go towards making this a more well-rounded
and all inclusive list. Some things that weren't about photography, or
pentax, a few years ago, are now an integral part of photography, including
Pentax photography. Can we make pictures with our digital cameras without
memory cards? Since so many pics, and articles that are germane to Pentax
specifically, and photography in general, are on the internet, is it not
important, or at least valuable, to have a good, fast connection? In order
to see some Pentax-made images such a connection is almost mandatory, such
as when someone posts a huge 100% image so that we can see how well or
poorly a piece of gear fares in this digital age.

I'm sure we all have our pet peeves and preferences about what ~should~ be
on the list - for example, I hate those asinine pun threads that in effect
destroy a good discussion about some subject or another. However, overall,
I think the list is the better for such things.

Shel
