Northern Sydney light is the same as southern Detroit light, Ken. Kind of harsh.

While I've never been anywhere near Sydney (I'd love to), I have no idea how soft northern light compares to Sydney light, but I do know that no matter where you are the light is softer around sunrise & sunset than other times in the day. This was the light I was implying.
