Hello Shel, That, I can answer. The D can be set with NR on or off. if NR is off then the buffer holds 6 images (raw or jpg) and with it on it holds 5. The D is not very speedy at writing out the images. It is supposed to take advantage of Lexar's WA (Write Accelerated) technology. I think about a 30X or so card is faster than the D, I have some Lexar 40X WA cards - they are faster than my slow Kingston. However, they are no faster than my recent design microdrives - basically within 1/2 sec of each other for writing out a raw image. Essentially, it takes about 7-8 seconds to write out a raw file with either the 40XWA Lexars or the Hitachi microdrives. So if you set it to continous exposure, and hold down the shutter button, you will get 5-6 frames shot very quickly and then every 7-8 seconds another frame will fire. This is a case where the DS and later are quite improved. However, I would really like a buffer of about 20 raw images.
