The .xmp file is automatically associated to the .PEF file of the same name before the extension. It is opened every time you open the .PEF file, so it shows the most recent modification date. If you didn't change anything, it should have the same settings.

Thanks.

I quess i'm up to owing you a full pot of coffee now.<g>

I brought the ibook to work to day (no bosses today<g>)and i see an XMP file associated with the pef in question. Unfortunatly it has Tuesday date on it, when i saved the pef as a jpg and worked on the photo. The photo in question was done Sunday. I wonder if one was made Sunday when i did the file for the Paw, and it was over written Tuesday when i reopend the pef file.

This would seem to make things easier once i fiqure xmp out a bit more and remember to associate files to it.

Once again, thanks

Dave

Quoting Godfrey DiGiorgi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Camera Raw v3.x defaults are to use sidecar files, where Camera Raw v2.x defaults to using its centralized cache. You should start up CS, open a PEF with Camera Raw v2.4, and set the preferences to use sidecar files...

You have to use the Camera Raw menu to do it, it's not in the Photoshop CS preferences menu.

I tried CS2 trial version last night, and i see those XMP files. The Pef in question was
with CS and no
XMP files were there.

So i quess i have CS setup for its own parameters for Raw then, by what you are saying..

I DO have the book, but i'm only in the first 1/4 of it so far.:-)
