Hiya. My DS just arrived yesterday.
Welcome to the crowd!
One thing I miss is certainly all the dials available on the body, instead of
through lcd menus, but looks like I'll have to deal with that. Maybe I am just
an old fart, but hey, who the heck said that old dogs can't learn new tricks? ;)
Count me on the old farts' list, then... Most settings are not so bad on the DS for my usage, but I hate to be forced to go through menues just to change the exposure metering mode (Matrix/Center-weighted/Spot: I miss my good old MZ-5(n) there) and between AF-C and AF-S (this I didn't have at all before, so I won't complain too much).

I know an extra button/switch/dial is more expensive than a few kilobytes of Flash memory, but at least I'd have liked to be able to choose which settings to put in the Fn menu. E.g .up=shooting mode, left = AF-mode, down=metering mode, right=ISO would be my choice, pushing back Flash and other things I seldom use into menues.

I don't care about which setting goes into which pad direction, being able to pick 4 settings and put them here is enough! I'll have to wait for the *ist D2 (hopefully), then wait until it becomes affordable by my standards (took almost 3 years for the D/DS).

This said, enjoy your new camera. It's a wonderful toy nevertheless...

Patrice
