One or two lenses (300/2.8?) require a filter "blank" (filters at the back of the lens) to focus properly in the first place.

600mm FA f4.0, although I never shot without the filter in place so I have no idea of the effect.

Not in the A*300/2.8 or any other of the long "recent" Pentax lenses that I'm
aware of.
