My Epson 3200 has a film holder for 4x5, so moire is not a problem. I'm
sure the newer Epsons come similarly equipped. I've scanned 4x5 at 3200
dpi, and the results are superb.

I have a flatbed which will do 4x5 without glass, but it's only
1200ppi and the shadow detail isn't too good. Actually I've never
tried it on anything bigger than 6x7cm so far, and likely never will
