"Objective" in English was never used to refer to a photographic lens per se. You hear it mostly in conjunction with telescopes and microscopes, where it refers to the imaging lens or lens system closest to the subject. In those areas of endeavor, the word objective meaning lens is quite common.

ocular - or the eye piece.
