You're right -- I forgot about that. Mine came in a Purolator box from the Philippines.
I am not defending this practice, by the way, just trying to explain the reasoning behind it.
I hear that the margins on the new DSLRs are better than the margins were on the old film SLRs, but that they're still pretty lousy. I remember that an MZ-50 kit cost us $459 and retailed for $499. And people wanted to bargain.
