Most of the current photo printers will do a decent job. What you get for more money is not so much better quality (although some of the expensive ones are slightly better than the cheap ones), as larger paper size and faster speed.
If you move up to the big machines, you also get much lower operationg costs. It costs me somewhere around 3 dollars a foot to make 16 inch wide prints. It seems to me it was costing me close to double that on my small Epson.
