John,

The DS2 is/was available in North America, it's Europe that didn't get it. I've held the DS2 in my hands, from an Authorized Pentax dealer, who gets their stock direct from Pentax Canada. Nice little body.

Shel,

I'll duck into Henry's today and see if they have any DS2's. They're Canada's equivalent to B&H and they're showing stock on the DS2 for $818USD on their site. Check them out at http://www.henrys.ca they do ship to the US (Half their site is set up to sell to the US)

However, if there is nothing coming soon to replace the DS2, and if in fact the DS2 is discontinued, then I will give serious consideration to moving
away from Pentax. I ~never~ thought I'd say those words, but it's now
something that I am considering, or at least thinking about. I feel let

Dude, Shel, calm down. The DS2 isn't even supposed to be available in North America. The fact that none of your "trusted sites" have it simply attests to the fact that they have to import it.

As far as I am concerned, with today's cut-throat digital camera market (where'd Minolta go? oh right, they were bought out and then quit making cameras altogether), as long as Pentax stays in business, I'll be happy. I know they will eventually come out with a new dSLR to replace my D, but in the meantime I'm very happy with my camera.

To stay alive, Pentax MUST stay successful. If that means making small changes to their dSLR range every now and then to keep it fresh in consumers' minds, so be it. I'm patient because I know Pentax is worth the wait.

By the way, when the D2 comes out, I call dibs on naming mine R2.
