Nowadays there are third-party outfits that specialise in taking cars
off the factory transporter and cleaning and polishing them ready for
showroom display.  They also take care of any little dings & scrapes.
If you take a close look in the dealership you can often see a little
sticker on the car identifying the provider.

The advice from one local club is that the first thing you should do,
when you pick a car up from the dealership, is take a hammer to the
hood.  That way you won't be worrying about the finish, and instead
can concentrate on enjoying driving the car.
