I had good results straight away with my 2100, but after I ran the alignment procedure the results were even better. IIRC the 4000 and 4800 automatically keep track of their alignment so that step isn't even necessary. I read somewhere that they're also set up a lot better in the factory.

The Stylus Pro's are aligned and linearized at the factory, the 'lesser' printers aren't.
