It's a Raster Image Processor. It's printing software that interfaces
directly with your printer, bypassing both imaging software (like
Photoshop) and your printer's drivers.

I've tried the Harrington Quad-Tone RIP for B&W printing but it
apparently takes a lot of experimentation and tweaking to get things
looking right. I'll experiment more when I have time. Probably June
after GFM :)
