One thing I have always loved is the fiction of "technical data" in photo captions in photography magazines. Photographers often don't remember or remember wrong. My favorite was a shot that ran in Popular Photography some years back. The background was full of "donuts" and it was obviously a mirror lens shot, but the caption said it was taken with a 50mm f/1.4 lens!
