To me it is not ironic but sad.  Sad that Pentax as a brand is being 
diluted
by an electronics giant or that Pentax can't hold its own in the 
marketplace
without using the Samsung brand.

Most of the brands are being diluted.
German brand names on Korean cameras, Minolta just got really diluted.
Evolution happens.
