My Grandmother died of liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, (her original
diagnosis), kills you rather quickly, or so the doctors said...

My Dad, who passed away several years ago, had cancer of the pancreas.
As I understand it, since the pancreas are so "deeply buried" in the
abdomen, and since they have very few nerve endings, by the time any
pain is felt, the cancer is already established and very hard to
control.
It's a tough way to go.
I hope Gary's demise was short and relatively pain-free. May he rest in peace.
