The visual preference for most (not all) is that something in a macro shot be in focus. Personally, I've discovered I can only do macros with manual focus, otherwise AF focuses on an area I don't want. Should I shut up? I stand corrected re your camera and lenses. My Maple isn't bad. (Is that the new one?) But I'd prefer greater DOF for more of it. Anyway, you're getting there, but, if it were me, I'd try a tripod and taking more time. HTH, Marnie
