Whereabouts on the lens mount is the hole the pin has slipped into? Right
now I can't take the lens off to have a look. I'm borrowing some feeler
gauges to do this.

How I did it.
You need a thin razor blade or a feeler gauge. I found the finest blade of
my feeler gauge worked.
Also needed is an adequate supply of expletives and it also helps to have
someone you can vent frustrations on.
Put some torque on the lens in the OFF direction and also tilt the lens to
enlarge the crack by the auto focus hole as much as possible (not much).
Work the pin back into the lens by twisting the blade with pressure on the
pin.
Just keep trying. About the time you are ready to throw it at the wall and
inflict serious injury on anyone within range it should come loose.
GOOD LUCK!
Get rid of the little pin with crazy glue or a pair of pliers and the lens
will work fine.
