It is likely the Samsung will lack a few menu items here and there
(other than the AF-S/AF-C selection). What about loading Pentax firmware
in it? Do you expect it won't be allowed by some kind of protection?
The electronics could be different: In that case firmware might be
incompatible. Hard to say until someone has the camera in his hands ;-)
Did anyone else notice that the photo's leaked in December were of a
GX-1L, with a slightly different mode dial. Could there be a second
Samsung D-SLR coming soon?
I agree. And that's exactly what they announced last October: a
rebadged Pentax (with some Samsung components inside) soon and a
jointly developed new generation later this year.
They are just keeping the announced pace. Not bad at all.
To be noticed:
1 - Apparently, they are keeping the backward compatibility as Pentax
does. I didn't expect that on the Samsung version.
Maybe someone simply copied the *ist-DS2 spec sheet without checking? If
this is true Pentax and Samsung are not really differentiating their
markets...
2 - Continuous AF only in Action mode, just like the DS and unlike the
DL/DS2.
This would be even more surprising. They would include advanced features
like a Penta-prism, 11 point AF, a high degree of backward compatibility
but retain that stupid restriction?
