Pity about the name. The A10 brings up an image of a very evil and ugly looking
tank-busting plane :P

IMO the A-10 Warthog is one of the coolest looking planes around.

But I've been told I have no taste

Of course I am always late to these threads,

My introduction to the A-10 Warthog was when I was involved, as an outsider, in war games in Fort Hunter Liggett, California.

I was working in a semi-trailer which contained telemetry equipment to capture data from a radar system located on tanks. We were in between a couple of hills. I got a little tired of being in there and decided to take a break outside.

I had just stepped outside when I heard the rumble or tanks coming over one of the hills and then heard a whistling. I looked behind me and that was when I gor my first glimpse of some A-10 planes coming over the other hill. Most impressive. It was then that I decided it was probably best to get back in the trailer.

I later had a chance to verify electronic warfare pods on these same planes during these same games ( I even verified them on F-18 jets and Cobra helicoters).

Bringing back some memories from one of my first assignments out of school,
