I used to do that, but I found more damage from dust and grit getting
between the platters with the spindle setup. The binders seem to take
up less space, and store on a bookshelf easily. It's easier to get to
any of the individual disks that way too ... the spindle enclosures
mean a lot more handling to get to any random disk (that's how the
dust and grit get in there...).
