Well, as Marnie said, Indigo is like the Canadian version of Barnes
and Noble.  Very flashy, very big, but oddly enough, not many more
books (if at all) than the smaller local shops.  After all, the
Starbucks on the second floor, and the CD store right next to it, and
the gift shop on the main floor all take up lots of space.

There are many bookstores in Toronto that I would prefer, even if I
didn't have political reasons for boycotting Indigo.  There's even one
(Elliot's at Yonge and Wellesley) with one of those rolling ladders so
you can reach the top shelf, just like the one that Audrey Hepburn
slides along in Funny Face <g>.  I've got a photo of it somewhere, but
I don't have time to dig it out right now.

You're right, there's something about a small, cramped, dingy store,
with a guy (or girl) at the front who actually knows books, that is
most attractive.
