According to Henry Wilhelm, Cibachromes have excellent dark storage capabilities, but their light fading (on display) is only somewhat better than colour photographic paper.
Much as I like and respect Henry, my Cibachromes don't agree with him. I have a couple that are matted and framed and were hung on the wall in my studio for years. The front of the studio is a storefront with big plate glass windows, and gets direct and indirect sun all day. One print was hung about two feet from the windows.
The tipoff on fading is to take the frame apart and look at the print with the matte removed. If the print has faded you'll see a difference between areas that were covered by the matte and those that weren't. On the prints in question I have done this every few years, and there is no visible difference. Now I didn't run densitometer tests, but my eyes are pretty good.
