G'day All I came across this today & thought I'd share for those who might find it interesting:
<http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/download.html> It's a free image editing application built on the Windows .NET framework. It's a bit basic for my tastes, but the important things like layers, levels adjustments, cloning, sharpening etc.are included (no curves that I've found). Funny thing is, a lot of the keyboard shortcuts are the same as those in PS. Cheers, Dave
