just to make life more interesting, in a recent press conference, the
president of Konica Minolta said that in order to have a viable digital
camera division, KM's digital imaging division might have to merge with a
current competitor. when pressed, he refused to say whether or not KM had
been talking to anyone. posturing or real? it would be interesting to know
who he had in mind.

Their first joint effort will be a camera, based on a current Pentax
model, that incorporates some Samsung technology and which will be
launched next spring. A jointly developed camera would not come until next
autumn, Pentax said.
