A lot of this discussion has been centered around comparing "crap tools" with "good tools", but the camera comparisons seem to have been, for the most part, comparisons between "very good tools" and "very, very good tools". Bill Rob described how his woodworking was improved by the purchase of a $1000 table saw, but I doubt he'd claim another big jump in quality if he bought a $2000 or $3000 table saw.
There's a point at which upgrading the tools becomes less important than upgrading the operator.
