Just adding my two cents on evaluating noise on the screen vs. prints. I agree with Paul. I've noticed that my ink jet prints show much less noise than I would have been led to believe was there by the screen rendition. I don't know if this is a side effect of the printer's conversion software or something to do with the way the ink droplets mix together when they hit the paper.
Whatever the cause, I never noticed it making the noise worse. It always seems reduce the noise a bit.
