There's no question in my mind: all original files get archived unless it's
truly junk - OOF, blurry, way bad exposure, accidental trip of the shutter,
etc.  You can archive the PEF files on a disk somewhere, as I suppose
you're doing, and work with the DNG files on the computer - save disk space
on the 'puter and still have originals stored elsewhere.  I'm not convinced
that using compressed formats is the way to go.  Heard a few horror
stories, so why tempt fate?

For my own work, I always save the original file - scanned files are about
140mb - I don't care about using "too much" disk space.
